Why do people seem to hate Obama so much?

Oh that's easy. Because there are a lot of haters who are eager to hate (by definition!) anybody who paints an easy enough target on their back. Racism, class-ism, greed, idealism. Take your pick, Obama makes them all seem easy reasons. But that's why a lot of people love him, too, regardless of the fact that he may be just as corrupt as all the rest.
