My Toenail is going to fall off, what should i do?

my toenail was to long and i stubbed it then it had a crack on the bottom of it i just noticed today. My nail is a a yellowish color and i know its sort of detached because water can go under it. i just tripped on my own foot (im so clumsy) and it made the crack almost all across my nail.it hurt really bad and it broke the ligaments that connect the nail to the toe. Should i peel it off or let my body let it fall off. Tell me what i should i do to treat this.
